JEREMY LIN SAYS "BACK OFF MEDIA!"

When we are average, no one seems to really care about you let alone your family. However, when we reach superstardom, everybody wants to be all nyobizness. Ha! Dot com! This is currently happening to Jeremey Lin.

Jeremy Lin, whose meteoric rise from obscurity to dazzling court general for the New York Knicks has become a global story, had a rare favor to ask of the massive media turnout for his team's 104-97 victory over the NBA champion Dallas Mavericks on Sunday.
The NBA's first Taiwanese-American player, after scoring a team-high 28 points and doling out 14 assists, appealed for consideration for members of his family in Taiwan.
"I love my family, I love my relatives," he said, when asked about his grandmother in Taiwan, who has become something of a celebrity, according to a question asked by a Chinese television reporter.
"One special request I have is for the media back in Taiwan to kind of give them their space because they can't even go to work without being bombarded and people following them," he said.
"I want people to respect the privacy of my relatives in Taiwan. Hopefully this will get back to everybody because they need to live their lives as well," said Lin, who has won admiration for his humble demeanor and the way he has handled all the attention since bursting onto the sporting scene two weeks ago.
He continued his sensational run since being installed at point guard by the Knicks, who acquired him after he was cut by two NBA teams, and further justified his addition to Friday's Rising Stars Challenge over the NBA All-Star weekend in Orlando.
The 23-year-old Harvard graduate said the win over the reigning NBA champions was a measuring stick for the Knicks and came against a boyhood idol of his in Mavericks' point guard Jason Kidd.
"He's a (San Francisco) Bay Area legend and I grew up in the Bay Area," said Lin, who led his Palo Alto, California, high school to a state championship. "I've admired him and watched him his whole career.
"We were talking throughout the game and he told me to keep playing hard and to keep building with the team. He gave me some veteran advice, and I'm very thankful to him for that. He's obviously a class act."
Also helping the Knicks on Sunday was swingman J.R. Smith, who debuted for New York after signing as a free agent after a stint in the Chinese Basketball Association.
Smith got his first real look at Lin in action when he entered the game in the first quarter.
"I didn't see a full game, I saw all the YouTube highlights," said Smith, whose 15 points was second-high for the Knicks. "Just watching him play, it was crazy.
"He really inspires a lot of people around here and a lot of people around the world," added Smith. "He is definitely a person that people can look up to. When you hear his story it gives you hope for anything."

The little lady—who has already made music history, is in the process of having a her name trademarked and was creatively honored and represented by her mother through blue nail polish—finally has a face.

MAN SQUATTED IN HIS HOUSE FOR 8 MONTHS ONLY PAYING $16 A MONTH

Kenneth Robinson has finally been kicked out of the $340,000 home that he had lived in since June for $16.
Robinson, 51, lived on Waterford Drive in Flower Mound, Texas, but he did not own or rent the home he claimed he had a right to live in. After the owner abandoned the property, which had been in foreclosure for over a year, and the mortgage company reportedly went out of business, he submitted a $16 filing fee at the local courthouse, claiming the law of "adverse possession" gave him the right to occupy the home.
However, a judge in Denton County ruled Monday that the current lienholder, Bank of America, can force Robinson out.
Robinson had became a local celebrity of sorts, writing an eBook and creating a website, http://16dollarhouse.com, about the home in which he lived for about eight months. On his site, he states, "I am successful because I can see it no other way."
After the judge's decision, he told the Associated Press that he had moved out, ending what he called a "huge learning experience." Prosecutors are cracking down on others hoping to emulate Robinson.
Adverse possession is a common law concept developed in the 1800s. According to Lucas A. Ferrara, a partner in Newman Ferrara, a New York City real estate law firm, adverse possession was enacted to ensure that property wasn't abandoned and was "maintained and monitored." It requires the posting of a clear, public notice that someone is at the property -- hence the court filing -- and that someone would remain there for a specific period of time, usually 10 years.
After the time requirement is satisfied, the Robinsons of the world have the opportunity to claim clear title to the property. In the meantime, the original property owner could fight the action, but it would be costly. And since the house has already been abandoned, it's not likely the original owner would wage an expensive legal battle to get it back. The mortgage holder would have to fight a court action too.
The growing number of abandoned homes brought on by the foreclosure crisis has produced a small buzz around the idea of adverse possession.
A spokesman for the National Association of Realtors, however, said adverse possession was not common nor on the association's radar screen.
But a quick Google search, however, turned up plenty of websites willing to show anyone how to do what Ken Robinson did.
At AdversePossession.com, for example, for a mere $39.95, "average people" can learn how to "acquire valuable real estate for free." The site takes steps to assure potential Robinsons that adverse possession is not squatting. "Squatter," says the site, "is an unfortunate and negative term used to describe someone who unlawfully occupies a vacant property or other real estate." Nor is occupying abandoned homes for financial gain immoral, according to the site. It's "doing the neighborhood a favor."
Robinson's former neighbors saw the situation differently. After he first moved in, they told local reporters that "If he [Robinson] wants the house, buy the house like everyone else had to. ..."
And Ferrara said, "it's quite an un-American notion that someone can take another's property without paying for it. ... After all, even the government has to pay for your property if it decides to take it from you."
David DeCosse, the director of campus ethics programs at the Markkulla Center for Applied Ethics at Santa Clara University, said that even though Robinson may have a right to do what he's doing, it's not necessarily the right thing to do.
Some of the great moral thinkers such as Thomas Aquinas, said DeCosse, would argue that in the case of an extreme emergency, it would be OK to do something like take food from a grocery store because food is meant to support and address human needs. So stealing would be OK in certain circumstances. But if there is no emergency, "it offends our moral sensibilities," said DeCosse. "What may be legally permissible is not necessarily ethically right."

WITH A SUPER BOWL WIN NEXT SEASON, THE NEW YORK GIANTS COULD BECOME A DYNASTY

I mean honestly, could the G-Men become a dynasty next year? Well the saying is: 3 super Bowls in 5 years, you're a dynasty. They took home the Lombardi in 2007 and now in 2011.

Their last year to become a dynasty would be next year. My guess is, it's NOT gonna happen folks.

During the regular season, coaches and players talk about the 24-hour rule -- the window allowed for celebrating a victory or dwelling on a loss before it's time to start moving forward.
It still applies to the Super Bowl champion New York Giants, at least in some regards. They'll have their parade, plenty of endorsements and quite some time to prepare for their next opponent, but already, oddsmakers have made them longer shots than the Green Bay Packers or New Orleans Saints to win Super Bowl XLVII.
So do history and common sense.
Despite the Giants' fairly consistent run over the past few years, a quarterback in Eli Manning who is in his prime and a nice crew of wideouts, Philadelphia or Dallas probably will be the trendy pick to win the NFC East.
New York isn't viewed like the Packers, who, like the Giants, had to scratch and claw their way into the playoffs before winning the Super Bowl last February. Green Bay is a team in its prime that has the quarterback and other elements to fend off improving NFC North competition and all comers from around the league. The Giants, well, they were a team that got hot at the right time. At least that's what you'll hear. New York won't be treated the same as Green Bay, even though their respective quests to a title, personnel and head coaches are similar in terms of results, age and production.

SOUL TRAIN LEGEND DON CORNELIUS DEAD AT AGE 75

A preliminary report suggests that Cornelius was killed by a self inflicted gunshot to the head. Investigations are still pending.

Sad news indeed.
